Carbon project development
We develop carbon projects from land opportunity to long-term monitoring.
For landowners, land managers and project partners. Your first output is a clear decision: is a well-designed project feasible on your land?
This is project development. We do not sell ready-made credits on this website.

Your first output
- Feasibility decisiongo / adapt / stop
- Is the land suitable?
- What are the main risks?
- Do the economics make sense?
Your land
You bring the opportunity
Location, area, land rights and your goal for the land.
Our work
We design and run the project
Expert design, the certification process, work on the ground and monitoring.
Your decision
You decide with a clear picture
The first output is a feasibility decision: suitability, risks, economics and next steps.
The project journey
From land to issued and sold credits
Fourteen phases. Open any phase to see what happens and what you receive.
LAND
We look at the land you bring: location, size, use and rights.
Output for you: A first view of the opportunity
FEASIBILITY
Is a project realistic here? We check suitability, risks and rough economics.
Output for you: Feasibility decision: go, adapt or stop
ELIGIBILITY
We check the land and activity against standard and methodology rules.
Output for you: Eligibility summary
BASELINE
What would happen without the project? We describe the reference scenario.
Output for you: Baseline description and data
METHODOLOGY
We select the methodology that fits the site and the activity.
Output for you: Methodology choice with reasons
FINANCIAL MODEL
Costs, timing, expected volumes and risks over the project life.
Output for you: Financial model
PROJECT DESIGN / PDD
The project is written up in the Project Design Document.
Output for you: Draft PDD
VALIDATION
An independent auditor (VVB) reviews the design.
Output for you: Validation report
REGISTRATION
The project is registered with the chosen standard.
Output for you: Registered project
IMPLEMENTATION
Planting, restoration or management work on the ground.
Output for you: Work carried out and recorded
MRV
Monitoring, reporting and verification data collected over time, with DigiTechForest as the data layer.
Output for you: Monitoring reports
VERIFICATION
The auditor verifies the results achieved.
Output for you: Verification report
ISSUANCE
Verified results can be issued as credits by the standard.
Output for you: Issued units
MONETISATION
Where it fits your goals, the units can be sold to buyers.
Output for you: Sales strategy and contracts
What makes a good project
Integrity and investability are designed in from the start
Early decisions decide whether the project can be verified and sold later. We design for that, not for a quick sale.
Integrity and environmental benefit
- Baseline: a credible picture of what would happen without the project
- Additionality: the result would not happen anyway
- Permanence: the benefit lasts, with risks managed
- Leakage: the impact does not simply move elsewhere
- Biodiversity: benefits for nature beyond carbon
Investability and demand
- Measurement: data that an auditor can verify
- Risks: identified, priced and reduced
- Transparency: buyers can see what they pay for
- Buyer demand: the right standard and story for the market
- Realistic economics: costs and timing that hold up
Why ZERO
Field knowledge, design, delivery and data in one workflow
- Three decades of forestry practice on real sites
- Project design and management of the certification process
- Planting and restoration carried out by our own crews
- DigiTechForest as the data and decision layer for monitoring
Example of a decision gate
Which parcels belong in the project?
On a mixed site, the data may show that some parcels are already regenerating naturally while others would stay degraded without intervention. Only the second group adds a real benefit, so only those parcels go into the project design. The project gets smaller but much stronger.
Illustrative example of how we work.
What a partner receives
Depending on the agreed scope
Scoping
A shared understanding of the land, the goal and the constraints.
Feasibility assessment
Suitability, rough economics and a go / adapt / stop recommendation.
Risk overview
The main technical, legal and market risks and how to reduce them.
Methodology proposal
The standard and methodology that fit the site.
Project plan
Phases, responsibilities, timeline and budget.
Implementation and monitoring plan
What happens on the ground and how it is measured.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
Who is a carbon project worth it for?
Usually for owners or managers of a larger area of forest or land where a change in management or restoration creates a measurable benefit. The feasibility assessment tells you whether that is true for your land.
How long does preparation take?
It depends on the methodology, the site and the data available. The feasibility assessment gives you a realistic timeline for your project.
What do you need from the owner?
Basic information about the land, its use and ownership, existing plans or maps, and a clear mandate if you represent the owner.
What is the auditor's role?
An independent validation and verification body (VVB) checks the project design and later the results. ZERO prepares the project for these checks.
What does ZERO manage?
Depending on the agreement: design, documentation, the certification process, work on the ground and monitoring.
What is the first step?
Send us the basic details below. We review them and agree on a feasibility assessment.
